Staff fundraiser to help older people
Housing staff at Salix Homes have raised more than £380 to help the elderly in Salford.
The housing management company who look after homes on behalf of Salford City Council put on a charity fundraising event at Salford market.
Employees donated clothes and bric-a-brac items for the market stall and held a raffle and tombola raising £384.83 for Age Concern Salford.
The event was part of Salix Homes' Winning in Neighbourhoods (WIN) Days initiative where staff take time out of their day-to-day jobs to help the community.
Staff from Salix Homes were also on hand to give advice on housing services.
Sue Sutton, Salix Homes' head of better neighbourhoods said: "We do a lot of work out in our communities to help local projects and we're always looking to do more.
"Staff had a great day running the stall and the support from local people was fantastic.
"We're really pleased we've been able to help such a worthy cause and I'd like to thank everyone who was involved.
Age Concern's Stewart Halliday added: "I'd like to pass on my thanks to Salix Homes, staff and volunteers who donated goods, helped organise the event and worked so hard on the day.
"It was a great effort and the money raised will be used to help make lives better for older people in Salford."
