How is My Rent Calculated?
How is my rent worked out?
Your rent is set by Salford City Council using government guidelines. The size, location and value of your home are all taken into account. If you are a new tenant, we'll explain how much your rent will be at your pre-tenancy meeting.
Why does my rent change?
At the start of each financial year (each April), your rent will change. We'll inform of this before it happens and explain what your rent goes towards. This happens as a result of government changes for the calculation of of rent that were introduced on 1 April 2002 by Salford City Council. These changes were called rent restructuring and are being phased in over a number of years, ensuing that everyone pays a fair rent for their home. Download the information leaflet to read more about the rent changes for 2009/10.
