Salix Homes. Releasing the potential

Improving Homes and Neighbourhoods in Pendleton

New houses being built in Pendleton

Salix Homes are making improvements to homes and neighbourhoods across Pendleton. We have planned programmes to make major improvements to council homes we manage in the area to make sure they all meet our Salix Standard by 2015. If you live in the area, you can find out when your home is due for improvement work by using our improvements search. Simply type in your postcode and see when and what type of work is planned. Some of the council properties we manage in the Pendleton area will have improvements delivered through the Pendleton PFI project. You can read more about this below.

You can also download our Delivering Decent Homes leaflet.

As well as making improvements to the homes we manage, we are also involved the wider improvements to the area. Pendleton's pivotal location at the heart of Central Salford means that its success is important to the future of the city as a whole. It has been identified as one of five transformational areas identified in the Central Salford Vision and Regeneration Framework and also as a major intervention area by the Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder. It neighbours the fast developing Salford Quay, mediacity: UK and the University of Salford.

Creating a New Pendleton: Pendleton PFI (Private Finance Initiative)
Pendleton PFI is a large-scale housing investment programme with £121m to spend on improving council housing in the area. The area will benefit from the building of affordable family housing, refurbishment of existing homes, improved transport links and improved shops, community facilities and open spaces. Salix Homes and Salford City Council have been working with residents and partners to develop the plans, which will see Pendleton become a neighbourhood of choice, in which people choose to live and work.

Pendleton and  Ordsall and Langworthy Co-located Team
Through a new partnership group called the Clean, Green, Safe Co-Located Team, the Ordsall & Langworthy area benefits from extra Police resources. Salix Homes, Salford City Council, Greater Manchester Police and the Urban Regeneration Company work together in the area. The team is based to ensure the area is clean and tidy, to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour quickly and improve community confidence.
