Our commitment to equality bags an award!

We are pleased to announce that the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) have recommended, following a robust independent assessment, that Salix Homes be awarded ‘Achieving' status against the Equality Framework for Local Government.

Salix Homes was successfully assessed against the following five performance areas to be recognised to this standard:

Knowing your communities and equality mapping
Transforming neighbourhoods, leadership, partnership and organisational commitment
Community engagement and satisfaction
Responsive services and customer care
A modern and diverse workforce.

We are one of the first Housing ALMO's to be assessed against this new criteria and our assessors were very impressed, particularly with our approach to transforming neighbourhoods, leadership, partnership and our organisational commitment.

What does this mean for our customers?
The new framework uses a wider definition of equality, based on the idea of equal life chances. Our recognition to this standard should provide you with the confidence that Salix Homes is committed to helping create a fairer society which recognises that:

equality is an issue for us all
we don't all start from the same place
to create a fairer society we need to recognise different needs.
