Salix Homes. Releasing the potential

Mediation

Everybody wants to live in peace in their neighbourhoods, colleagues, landlord or tenant. But what if your life's a misery because of a dispute with people around you?

Mediation could be the answer. Our mediators don't take sides: they help find a long-term solution that suits everyone. Mediators listen to both points-of-view. They don't judge people as "right" or "wrong."

And the service is FREE!

What is mediation?
Mediation is a completely voluntary and confidential way to resolve any disputes you may have, such as anti-social behaviour, conflict or noisy neighbours. It involves a completely independent person helping two or more individuals or groups to reach a solution that is acceptable to everyone. Mediation can be a quicker, easier and more appropriate way to overcome disputes without having to use agencies such as the police.

  • Mediation is voluntary
  • Courts actively encourage parties to consider mediation
  • Any settlement reached is binding once put into writing and signed by the parties

Mediation provides the stage or platform for the problem to be brought out into the open accepting that the parties involved need to be listened to and allowed to air their views and options without the fear of being judged or discriminated against. Even if the dispute cannot be completely settled it is often possible to at least diffuse the situation by calming emotions, helping people to understand one another and encourage better or more considerate behaviour towards one another.

Mediation can work, but not in all cases, some just cannot be resolved for whatever reason, However, with the patience and understanding of the trained Mediators, Salix Mediation Service endeavour to settle as many disputes as possible and have a high success rate.

Confidentiality is central to our service and apart from exceptional circumstances, and with your knowledge; information disclosed or discussed during mediation will remain confidential.

During the process everyone works towards reaching agreements that all concerned can live with. The agreements may be verbal or written based on good will and commitment, but they are not legally binding.
