Awards and Accolades

Part of our vision is 'to become an excellent organisation that delivers quality homes and services'. We hope that in becoming an excellent organisation this is recognised by both our customers, colleagues, partners and peers.

Since launching in July 2007, here are a few of ways this has been recognised:

NFA Award (National Federation of ALMOs) Award 2014
In recognition of our ‘Connecting Customers' project, which teaches tenants essential IT skills and money management. More information here.
BSI OHSAS 18001 - June 2011
This registration demonstrates an ongoing commitment to ensuring health and safety management for employees and customers. The OHSAS 18001 registration is internationally recognised and relates to all matters of safety in the working environment. Salix Homes were one of the first ALMO's to achieve this standard in the Northwest, and are still one of the few companies within their industry to be awarded and able to maintain this accreditation.

TPAS National Awards - July 2013
Customer Senate awarded National Excellence in Tenant-led Scrutiny, which is judged from across the whole of the country.

Customer Senate awarded Excellence in Tenant Led Scrutiny.

The Salix Homes Customer Senate beat off stiff competition from across the North of England to pick up the Excellence in Tenant-led Scrutiny Award - a new category in the TPAS awards for 2013. Click Here to find out more.

Housing Excellence Award 2013

Equality Framework for Local Government - Excellent July 2012
The Social Housing Equality Framework (SHEF) is a performance and improvement tool. It is intended for Arms Length Management Organisations (ALMOs) and housing associations and challenges us on diversity and equality practice. It looks at how well we know our customers, our customer care and responsiveness. Assessors were unanimous that we fulfilled the Excellent level of the SHEF. They cited a number of key strengths in each area and also took the opportunity to highlight areas for consideration to ensure that we continue to develop and improve, these are being developed and actioned. 

 

NFA Award winners 2012

Sustainable Landlord of the Year

NFA Awards Winners 2012
We became the first housing organisation to win 3 awards at the National Federation of ALMOs awards. We scooped the Most Innovative Project Award for our energy efficiency improvements to New Barracks, Best Community Initiative for our Making Differences Count project and our tenant Charlotte Boardman won the Outstanding Young Person award for the inspiring work she has done in our communities. UK Housing Award Winner 2012. Sustainable Landlord of the Year - awarded June 2012.
We won a record 3rd consecutive UK Housing Award, receiving the coveted Sustainable Landlord of the Year award for Salix Green; our innovative and holistic approach to tackle fuel poverty, reduce our carbon footprint and improve the energy efficiency of our homes. Living Wage accreditation

Living Wage accreditation - June 2012
This accreditation- awarded by the Living Wage Foundation- recognises  that all our employees and those of our contractors earns not just the minimum wage but the Living Wage. The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually, based on the cost of living in the UK. The Living Wage campaign has been running for ten years and has lifted over 10,000 people out of poverty. To find out more, visit the Living Wage Foundation website.

NTO Approved - April 2012
Our approach to resident-led self regualtion and scrutiny received further recognition by being approved by the National Tenant Organisations.

Investors In People (IIP) Silver Award - February 2012
This fantastic success builds on our initial IIP accreditation back in 2007 when we first set up as an organisation.

The assessor was complementary about many areas of our business including having clear organisational goals, excellent communication between staff members and strong leadership at different levels of the organisation. You can find out more about the accreditation on our news pages.

UK Housing Award 2011 Winner - November 2011
Salix Homes won the Valuing Equality and Diversity category for its groundbreaking ‘making differences count' project at the UK Housing Awards. National Apprenticeship Service July 2011
Salix Homes have been recognised by the National Apprenticeship Service for its commitment to employing and developing young people as part of its modern apprenticeship scheme.

UK Housing Award 2010 Winner

In November 2010, Salix Homes were awarded a trio of awards at the prestigious UK Housing Awards organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing. The award was in recognition of our Customer Senate: our ground breaking approach to involving our customers in shaping and improving services. Housemark ASB Accreditation - January 2010
The Housemark ASB accreditation is awarded by Housemark and the Social Landlords Crime and Nuisance Group. We are one of the first organisations of our kind to be awarded the award for recognising the effects ASB can have on our community and for how we are tackling the causes.

 

The assessors were particularly impressed with our 1st Response service which allows customers to report anti-social 24 hours a day. They also commended the partnership working of our Ordsall and Langworthy Clean, Green Safe Co-located team.

Keep Britain Tidy: Cleaner Safer Greener Neighbourhood Quality Mark Awarded January 2010
Cleaner Safer Greener Quality Mark recognises housing providers cleaner, safer, greener achievements at a national level. It is the first of its kind in the country and is an effective partnership tool for housing providers who want to lead the way in environmental issues and build better neighbourhoods for their tenants and residents.

We were awarded the Quality Mark Accreditation in January for our Ordsall and Langworthy Neighbourhoods at the ‘performer' level. The assessors were particularly impressed with the level of partnership working and the Co-location Team that is clearly achieving results and improving our neighbourhoods. They were also very impressed by the commitment and dedication of our staff working in the neighbourhood teams.

Equality Framework for Local Government
Awarded January 2010

The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) recommended ‘Achieving' status against the Equality Framework for Local Government.

We are one of the first Housing ALMO's to be assessed against this new criteria and our assessors were very impressed, particularly with our approach to transforming neighbourhoods, leadership, partnership and our organisational commitment.

Customer Service Excellence Accreditation October 2009
The Customer Service Excellence standard is a Government standard which tests in great depth areas that research has indicated are a priority for customers, with particular focus on delivery, timeliness, information, professionalism and staff attitude. There is also emphasis placed on developing customer insight, understanding the user's experience and robust measurement of service satisfaction.

Young Learner and Employer of the Year 2008
Awarded by employment organisation Connexions, for our outstanding support and commitment to the Young Apprentice scheme. This includes providing time for training, extra allowances, attending all NVQ meetings and giving apprentices the experience of moving around different teams.

 

Two Tick Disability Accreditation

Promoting Equality of Opportunity Employer of the Year 2008
Awarded by the Greater Manchester Employer Coalition, we beat off stiff competition from the BBC and Marriott. The award recognised our commitment to providing equal opportunities to staff and tackling a wide range of diversity issues in the workplace. Click here to view the press release.

We are recognised for our commitment to best practice in employing people with disabilities. The 2 Tick Disability Symbol aims to ensure that people with disabilities feel confident that their employer (or potential employer) will be positive about their abilities.

IIP

Board Member of the Year 2008- 'Highly Commended' Deputy Chair of Salix Homes, John Cox was 'highly commended' at the National Federation of ALMOs' (NFA) Annual Awards ceremony in the Board Member of the Year category. The commendation recognises John's role in helping to establish a customer focussed culture in Salix Homes, known as the Salix Way.

Investor In People (IIP) Awarded 2009
The award recognises our commitment to providing training opportunities for our staff.

Salix Homes was shortlisted for the Training Journal Award 2009 for Change Management Programme of the year.
