Community room gets a face-lift
A community room has been given a new lease of life after a revamp from staff at Salix Homes and the Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company (URC).
Staff took time out of their day-to-day jobs to tidy up the Canon Hussey Court community room on the Islington Estate after a leak had left the centre in need of repair.
Members of the Islington Estate Tenants and Residents Association also got involved to give the room a fresh lick of paint and replace damaged ceiling tiles.
Members from the clean and green team which is supported by Central Salford URC, Salford City Council and Salix Homes also brightened up the outside of the centre with flowers.
The work was part of Salix Homes' Winning in Neighbourhoods (WIN) Days initiative to allow staff time to get involved in community projects.
Sue Sutton, Salix Homes' head of better neighbourhoods team said: "This is one of the many successful projects we've completed in central Salford as part of our WIN Days and it's great to see local people benefitting from it.
"Getting out and about and meeting new people helps us to understand the needs of our customers better while giving something back to communities at the same time."
If you have any community projects that Salix Homes may be able to help out, contact Mike Johnston at Salix Homes on 0161 779 8948.
Materials for the revamp were donated by Liverpool painting and decorating company George Jones & Son.
