Salix Homes. Releasing the potential

Chief bids farewell as deputy takes up the reins

Former chief executive of Salix Homes Kevin Scarlett

STAFF at Salix Homes have bid a fond farewell to their popular chief executive Kevin Scarlett.

Kevin has been the leading light of the Salix Homes team since the organisation's inception in 2007.

He is now leaving for pastures new after taking up a new post in Scotland. He leaves the team in the capable hands of deputy chief executive Joe Willis, who is now stepping up to the helm.

Kevin has made an invaluable contribution to housing in Salford and the wider regeneration scene. He was a key figure in securing almost half a billion pounds from the Government to fund investment in council and privately owned homes across the city.

Speaking of his proudest achievements he said: "10 years ago we had virtually no investment for council homes in Salford, little resources for improving private homes and pretty average housing services at best.

"Over the past 10 years this has changed considerably and I have been lucky enough to have been involved with this."

Kevin, who is an ardent Manchester City supporter, says he is happy to leave Salix Homes in the capable hands of Joe Willis.

He added: "Joe has been with Salix Homes from day one and is equally committed to providing the best possible service for all our customers.

"Salix Homes has a good leader in Joe and I'm confident he can take the organisation forward to where we want it to be.

"I wish him, and the rest of the team at Salix, the very best of luck for the future."

Joe Willis

New chief executive Joe Willis said: "I would like to thank Kevin for his magnificent contribution to housing in Salford and the wider regeneration of the city.

"He has been an excellent leader and will be a tough act to follow. I, and everyone here at Salix Homes, wish him the best of luck on his new journey."

Peter Styche, chairman of the Salix Homes Board, added: "Kevin has been an excellent leader and he will be missed by everyone here.

"His contribution to Salix Homes and to housing in Salford has been exceptional, but we know Joe will continue his good work and we must now look to the future and carry on our journey to making Salix Homes the best rated housing provider in the country."
