Free Courses

Apprenticeship Scheme  
Salix Homes currently recruit 2 Modern Apprentices per year, on an 18 month contract. During this time they will gain an accredited qualification such as an NVQ level 2 in Customer Care. To date we have recruited 8 apprentices, 4 of which have been successful in gaining permanent employment with Salix Homes, 1 has left the organisation and the remaining 3 are still on their apprenticeship scheme. The recruitment takes place annually in June and will be advertised on here and other locations.

B4Box

Learning and development opportunity  
We have teamed up with the council and Skills & Work (provided by Work Solutions) to deliver services aimed at improving skills and securing employment for people who are unemployed. We have now set up a database and referral system for people living in Central Salford. By working closely with employers, providers and many other partner organisations we aim develop opportunities to assist our customers into employment or appropriate training.

Here two other examples of the schemes we have been involved in supporting to create employment opportunities:  

  • B4 Box- We have formed a partnership with a community enterprise organisation -  B4 Box Ltd. B4 Box is now providing training and employment in construction to 14 previously unemployed people living in Central Salford, by sub-letting part of a contract within Salix Homes planned construction works.  
  • The Salford YouthbuildYouthbuild is a  project set-up by NCH (National Children's Home now known as The Children's Charity)  to help young people aged 16-21 years from disadvantaged communities to gain employment in the construction industry.
