Pendleton lies at the heart of Central Salford located between the A6 and the M602 with Chapel Street to the east and Seedley Village to the west. It offers a superb location with excellent access to Manchester city centre and the local and regional highway network.

Local people enjoy access to facilities including Salford Shopping City (a local shopping centre) and the new police station. A new LIFT centre is due to open in late 2008 and will offer a range of health and community based services.

Historically Pendleton was the central business district for Salford prior to extensive clearance in the 1960’s and 1970’s. The central area of Pendleton was comprehensively re-developed following this and almost all of the remaining buildings are less than forty years old and characterised by high and medium rise blocks and council estates.

Pendleton is a focus of regeneration activity within the Central Salford area; it is included within the Manchester Salford Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder area and has been recognised by the Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company (URC) as one of four ‘transformational areas ‘.
