Search is on for community stars

Our tenants and customers are being urged to go green in their nominations for this year's star awards.

The Best Green Initiative Star is one of six award categories and replaces the Better Environment Star, which was won by The Islington Estate Tenants and Residents Association (TIETARA).

The association was praised for reporting fly-tipping, arranging for graffiti to be removed and organising everything from Halloween parties to a weekly after school club and internet café.

"Issues to do with the environment can help improve the health and well-being of people"

Nominations are open for the Best Green Initiative Star. It will be given to an individual or group who has:
  • Cleaned up a green or open space
  • Transformed an area of there neighbourhood to make a difference to their local environment.
  • Been involved with a project that makes better use of recycled materials
  • Been involved in energy saving projects

Kevin Scarlett, Salix Homes Chief Executive, said:

The 2012 awards, official supported be the Advertiser, coincide with the fifth anniversary of Salix Homes, which manages thousands of homes in central Salford for the council the other award categories are the Young Rising Star, Good Neighbour Star, Best Community Project Star, Outstanding Achievement Star and the Creativity Star
