Creating a new Pendleton
Housing renewal plans for Pendleton have taken a step forward with residents finding out how the money from the Private Finance Initiative will be invested in housing in the area.
The vision is to transform Pendleton into an area where people want to live, whilst making sure existing communities and assets are at the heart of the redevelopment.
The investment will see homes in the Broadwalk area, Nursery Street area and Lindinis and Denbigh area refurbished, while homes in the South Clarendon and Aylesbury Close area will see improvements to the layout of their estate, as well as refurbishments to homes. The High Street area and Amersham Street and Athole Street area will undergo complete redevelopment, to provide new, improved homes.
These proposals follow detailed community consultation and take into consideration the improvements tenants would like to see to their homes and streets. The proposals have just been submitted to the government, they will be assessed and Salford City Council will get the outcome in or around September this year.
For more detailed information on the plans you can visit the website www.salford.gov.uk/pfi or call the Pendleton Team at Salix Homes on 0800 218 2000. There will be further consultation in Pendleton in September when residents will have the opportunity to comment on Draft Planning Guidance for Pendleton which sets out what will be expected for building design, green space, transport, shops and community facilities in the area.
